Lemans 2

A free, top-down arcade racer for the Commodore 64, inspired by the spirit of classic racing game Lemans.

Start at the lights, build up speed and weave through traffic. Reach the next checkpoint before the clock runs out, collect overtaking bonuses and push for a new high score. Every collision costs precious time, and every second counts.

Features

• Remixed routes for each race, with bends, chicanes and narrow sections.
• Rival cars with different speeds and driving lines.
• Changing environments: green countryside, lakeside roads, slippery snow, night and fog.
• Headlights and limited visibility that make the darker sections a different challenge.
• Checkpoints that add time, with a maximum reserve of 60 seconds.
• A 1,000-point bonus for every ten cars overtaken.
• Gradual acceleration and deceleration, sliding on snow and collisions that force you to slow down and recover.
• Trackside trees, grandstands, advertising boards and an overhead bridge.
• SID engine, overtaking and skidding sound effects.
• Joystick and Commodore paddle support, plus an in-game pause function.
• Set a qualifying score and enter your three-character initials! High scores are automatically saved and loaded at startup. 

The game is supplied as a PRG and D64 for C64 emulators, original Commodore 64 hardware, The C64 Mini & Maxi and Ultimate 64.

Controls

• Joystick port 2: move left or right to steer.
• Commodore paddle port 1: turn the paddle to steer.
• Fire: advance through the title screens and start the race. Hold Fire during the race to accelerate; release it to slow down.
• P: pause or resume the race.
